My Avigo Apps

Most applications I wrote and will write for the Avigo are games.
You can see their descriptions plus screenshots here , for
downloading please visit  my favourite avigo page
( I prefer to have my stuff at one place , and they have counters !).
All my Apps are freeware or commentware.
If you have any comments or suggestions , mail me to mail at kochandreas.com !

Important

Currently, i don't have much time to continue with Avigo development because of various "real life" issues. I don't want to say i stop developing for the Avigo, but i don't expect too much in the next few years :-/
Latest news: i have disassembled my Avigo to have a look at the hardware. Unfortunately it's too packed and complex for my limited knowledge on electronics, but i can't decide to re-assemble it yet either...

Released Apps

Shoot

Most downloads of all my apps , and it's worth it !Shoot is a space arcade , with different enemys ,extra weapons ,shields , etc. ...It is a bit difficult , I guess thats why I never got complaints about the buggy higher levels ;)

Status : discontinued

Eagle Lab

This isn't a real game , just a quick implementation to test my 3D engine .If features a 32*32 maze , wich can be
explored step by step , 90° turns,1 Wall texture , 1 Sprite.Your goal : Run into all the eagles.

Status : discontinued , but I might write an other game with this engine.

See : "Endad"

Chessboard

The name is the game. This is just a Chessboard , with no computer player , that allows you to play chess
against an other human (or yourself). Simple analytical functions(mark covered tiles).

Status : discontinued , but did several tries to make chess with computer player . Unfortunately, this is not easy, especially if one tries to port a "portable" chess app to the Avigo :(

Mind It

Ok, the graphics are not the strength of this one , but it plays quite nicely. Your avigo will blink one of the six
fields , you have to tip it . Then your Avigo will blink two fields , then three ...

Status : discontinued

Boulder Fun

One of the fanciest boulderdash-clones ever seen! Features about 30 different things to explore, 28 (10 used...)levels, password system for higher levels, key or touchscreen controll ... for days of fun ! I am quite shure it will get a place on the Avigo-top-ten !

And even better: You allways wanted to create Avigo games, but you are no programmer? No problem !
With the release of Boulder Fun I will release my editor, which will allow you to build your own freeware
bouderdash games, with all new levels, and even with new graphics ! This apps will be completely
stand-alone apps and if you wish you can include your name and email !

Status : discontinued. No one creates own levels. Why? Frustration....

Roguelike

Your town has been raided! Search in the sewers.. ...but know when to run
Looks cool, eh? This is a "role playing" game for the Avigo. More or less. You descent through randomly created mazes
, slay monsters and collect items.

Status: Update V1.4 Released. DOS-Version 1.4 in my freeware section
Only feedback from two people, seems the Avigo is dieing....

AviPic

Bored of the small, not even full-screen pictures you can view on your Avigo? Pictureview allows compressed pictures, with virtually unlimited size....

Status : Released. Discontinued
Release 1 (available on PMSSYSTEM) is complete and working. It is limited on 16K resulting app size, comes with a comfortable Windows app to get your pictures into an app, and has a 50% zoom.
Release 2 Changes to Release 1: Display routines now in Assembler, a good bit faster (allthough not as fast as i planned), optional FAST full pic zoom out replacing the slow 50% zoom, supports apps larger than 16K (currently 16K to 64K, any larger sizes should be no problem.

Apps in Development/Stasis

Hexe

An hexadecimal editor which allows you to watch all RAM and FLASH in your Avigo, edit the RAM, and perhaps disassemble code...

Route planer

This one is intended for calculation which train to take. You enter the locations, timetables and routes in a text file on
your PC , and run a tool to modify the app. On your Avigo , tip on start and target , adjust the time and the quickest
route will be calculated.
Status : Done but don't work ;) , little motivation for debugging ....

Space Commander

Know this "Star Trek", "Enterprise" , etc. games where you patrol several sectors for klingons , scan , repair , land
on planets for dilithium ..... just what I want to create. Plus as much extra features as I can stuff in !!!!!

Status : Intro done, further development suspended

Planned Apps

This are apps I have planend , but did not much work yet. The following list is sorted by priority (top most) , but is
subject to rapid changes , especally as I need further hardware info for some of these , and others are just LOTS
of work ....

Beeing a bit demotivated because of the low BoulderFun feedback , i will implement something
that *I* want to have as next app ;) ... probably Space commander or Endad .

Endad

My best candidate for the game using the EAGLE HUNT engine.
Will be a small role-playing game : Roam a randomly generated dungeon
search chests , fight randomly apperaing monsters , get better armor,
weapon and spells . There will be 4 differenty "base" enemies , which
can wildly mutate , elemental based attacks/spells , etc.
Will probably be quite large (64k-128k)

Status : Chanceled, will be replaced by Roque and AviGoom.

Update : Having direct display access now, it could be possible to write a version with more textures than Eagle Hunt, or even with non-rectangular walls!\

(i don't hope for floor & ceiling textures or free rotation - yet...)

Avigo Chess

Thanks to the sourcecode of a chess engine a good spirit supplied , I will try to create a chessboard with computer
player for the avigo.

Status : Portability of the engine seems lower than expected.

Additional BASIC examples aqquired, but it seems to be the worst spagetti code i've ever seen...
Will see what i can do , but it costs too much nerves for rapic success ;)

Translator

Word translator for the Avigo. Based on Huffman-packed ASCII tranlsation files

Status : Low priority.

Key Keeper

App that will encrypt several small keys (like credit card PINs) very savely , using one master password for all.

Status : 1 Request

Come and Conquer

Command and Conquer-clone for Avigo . Will be heavily reduced (same units for both sides , total 8 different units ,
something like this ...) .

Status : Need to check if technically possible

AvigoCiv

Civilazation clone for Avigo . Will be at least reduced by the "video" sequences !

Status : Much work , will be done when I have *MUCH* time ....

AviGoom

Doom clone for Avigo. Probably no height levels, no floor or ceiling textures.

Status : Need to check how fast the calculations can be . DOS+WIN prototypes.

AviAngelo

Paint app. Larger than screen bitmaps , grayscale viewer , packed images , zoom , etc...

Status : 50% done, but nasty bugs remain.

VectorVigo

Vector paint app.

Status : planned

Composer

Allows to create and play melodies , and save them to a textfile (to exchange via IrExchange)

Status : Low priority.

CommSuite

Read and write EMail and News, browse the Web, all through a standard modem connected to the Avigos serial port. Will be REALLY large... excpect 64K absolute minimum....

Status : High complexity, low priority... alone the TCP/IP stack is a HUGE bit of work...

AvigoXT

A very limited XT PC emulator. GFX up to 320*200 MCGA, 40*25 text, 8086 processor, very litte RAM :)

Status : partial windows based emulator

AvigoBoy

A Gameboy emulator, limited too. No sound, no full speed, limited compability (not all games will work).

Status : reading GB specs :). It seems that no one did a GB emu with partial native code execution yet....

Hardware related Apps

This are apps I have planend , but did not much work yet, and which will need special hardware (an Atmel AVR microcontroller, usually. Costs about $5) to work.

AvigoSwitch

Use your Avigo with a little Hardware extension (based on a ATMEL AVR Microcontroller) to controll various hardware using 13 I/O-ports, or sample voltage data, temperatures, etc.

Status : Still searching a practical use for this...

AvigoTV

Watch TV on your Avigo! With a little hardware extension
(ATMEL AVR based), your Avigo (or any other device with a serial
port) can display a video signal (from a camera, video recorder, etc)
at 128*85 monochrome pixels with several frames/second...

AvigoSmart

Will allow you to connect cheap, large Smartmedia cards (as used in cameras) to your avigo for mass storage.

AvigoScope

Using an high speed A/D chip plus an AVR you can sample analogue data at up to 2Mhz (for 256 Samples) on your Avigo.

AvigoPrint

Connect any printer-port non-gdi printer to your Avigo and print memos, addresses and graphics!
